Sleep Deprivation

So, it turns out that when I can't sleep, I can't sleep. There are way too many things going on inside my brain right now, and I can't seem to stop thinking long enough to drift away to Dreamville. I thought I'd make this blog post in the mean time.

I'm going to get my hair cut tomorrow. This will be the first time in about four years that my hair will actually get cut more than An inch. I'll post a picture of it as soon as it's done. Or, ya know, maybe a week later, when I remember to update this again.

In a little less than a month and a half, I'll be leaving for college! Ahhh! I'm so nervous and excited at the same time. I can start signing up for classes now, so wish me luck! (I'm definitely going to need it)

No one reads these any way, so I think I might start making this my dream journal. I have some pretty crazy dreams, so be prepared

Last night, I dreamt that I was with Kendall and James from my favorite band. For some reason, Kendall was being a total jerk. I don't remember what he said, but it was pretty bad. Then, my dream morphed into this weird thing. I think I was on a beach, but I'm not sure. I don't exactly remember that part.

I have to warn you; most of my dreams involve James or Big Time Rush, or one of my various favorite television shows in some way. Or all if them at the same time. You are now warned.

Well, that's all I have to say for now, though it will probably take me an hour or so to get to sleep, especially with this uncomfortable, deflated air mattress I'm sleeping on :P Good night, and have good dreams, hopefully filled with food.

Travels

Hey, here's the link to the magazine. I'm on page 42 http://issuu.com/alliteratimagazine/docs/alliterati8/1 They did spell Synesthesia wrong, but it's understandable, because of all the work they do.

Other than that, nothing exciting is happening right now. Other than the fact that I'm going to be leaving home for two days at the end of the week. I'm really excited to go somewhere I've never been before, experience new things, see a new way of life. (Even if it's only 6 hours away.)

So long.

Autumn

Autumn is the best season, because it's so pretty. The leaves are changing colors, turning the world from it's usual green self into an array of colors, like a collage. So I'm going to turn autumn into a project. I will collect as many leaves as I can, press them, and make them into a pictograph collage. Also, I'm going to take as many pictures of autumn as I can, and upload them onto my deviantArt page (and here's some shameless self-promoting: http://drippingwords.deviantart.com/) and some onto here.

I've always wanted to travel the world, and become immersed in the cultures of the people. I hope that someday I'll be able to do just so, but for now, I'm trapped at home, like fireflies in a jar.

Exciting Things

So some exciting things happened this week, and I decided they would make for a pretty good first blog post.

First things first:

One of my poems is going to get published! I suppose I should say another one of my poems is being published, as I was published once before in a little chapbook. ANYWAY, I'm really excited, because it's an online magazine that has very high standards, and I made it! It (the magazine) is called Alliterati, and I'll link to the page it (my poem) is published on after they publish it. Here's the poem that's getting published:

To Us- Synesthesia

i.

every sound
excites a burst
of color; an
exploding
firework,
dancing and
twirling.

ii.

your voice
tastes of mangoes;
sticky
and sweet,
caressing my senses.
your flavor is
personal.

iii.

the letters
all become a
different personality.
"T" is crabby
and "I" worries.
"J" is strong
and mighty.

iv.

closer and
farther away;
each number becomes
its own plane
and point
in space;
perfect details.

v.

all the numbers
form lines
becoming an army
of curvy rows,
swirling round
and round.
a perfect pattern.

vi.

letters take
on colors,
each and every one
a different hue,
a different shade,
forming rainbows
of words.

Some background knowledge about the poem:

For iii, the Personification section, I took actual quotes from people who had that type of Synesthesia.

I used the six known types of Synesthesia:

i. Sound → color Synesthesia
ii. Lexical → gustatory Synesthesia
iii. Personification
iv. Spatial Sequence Synesthesia
v. Number form Synesthesia
vi. Grapheme → color Synesthesia

Here's a link to an amazing picture that also portrays synesthesia: http://silentreaper.deviantart.com/art/Synesthesia-273485854

Other exciting things: I got my first postcard in the mail from Postcrossing this week! It was from a sweet girl in Hong Kong, who's name was also Cat (I spell mine like K-A-T) and she sent a Happy Birthday postcard because my birthday happened a few weeks ago (I'm 18.....weird). I'll be sending off all of MY postcards that I have to send as soon as I go buy stamps. Yeah.

I think that's about it--oh! I'm going on a trip up to Rexburg, Idaho, to check out some apartments for college. Wish me luck!
